Fall beginnings

2 minutes estimated reading time

Have you ever thought about fall like you do January 1st? For some, the start of a new school year is a great time to turn over a new leaf, whether or not you are in school! Take this chance to make healthy changes that will keep you feeling great through winter.

If you do one thing to improve your diet this fall, eat 3 cups of beans each week. Besides being a comfort food, beans add flavor and texture to soups, chili, and casseroles. They’re also a great salad topper. Beans are rich in protein, iron, folic acid, fiber, and potassium, so you’re getting a lot of nutrition.

Another tip: be gentle on your teeth! Do you chew on things like ice or popcorn kernels? Now is the time to stop. Ice can break your teeth (not an exaggeration), and so can popcorn kernels. Plus, popcorn has those hulls that can get caught in your gums and cause severe irritation. Popped popcorn is a great snack. Just watch out for the kernels!

You can do this anytime, but now is the best time to decide. Stop smoking. We are all aware of the dangers of smoking and its long-term impacts. You want to be around for a long time for your family and friends, so take charge of this part of your health. You’ll be astonished by how your energy picks up, and you’ll save money by not buying those expensive packs again.

Fall is a fantastic time to make new efforts for your health, so gather friends and family and tell them your goals. Maybe they’ll join you, and together you’ll have excellent health!
